Mission statement

Our purpose is to facilitate collaboration and community among early-career1 cloud physicists in the UK2. We highlight new and interesting work in cloud physics and connect people with similar research interests. We are inclusive, informal, and as accessible as possible.

1 We define early-career as ‘within 10 years of having completed your highest academic qualification’. If it’s been more than 10 years but you’ve had significant career pauses for any reason (e.g. caring responsibilities), count yourself in.

2 Not limited to UK citizens or UK institutional affiliations, but a snapshot of ‘who’s in the UK at the moment’. If you’ll be here on one of our event dates, you’re invited.

Research focus

We welcome contributions across all aspects and scales of cloud physics. Topics include cloud microphysics, aerosol-cloud interactions, turbulence and dynamics, mesoscale organisation, circulation coupling, and cloud-climate feedbacks. Studies spanning a wide range of spatial and temporal scales are encouraged, from microscale process-level investigations and case studies to large-scale, global or climate-scale analyses. Theoretical, observational, laboratory, and modelling approaches are all welcome, as well as machine learning and research tools development.

How to get involved

We maintain a member directory, an active email list, and a calendar of upcoming events and opportunities. As well as the yearly symposium, we run bimonthly online seminars to showcase current research in cloud physics. If you’d like to present your work, please register your interest here.
